How To set up your planners
When I got my first traveler’s notebook planner, I looked those 4 strings and thought, what in the world do I do with those? I had seen so many other people’s planners that looked amazing and perfectly set up. It’s truly not as hard as you might think.
First, you need some inserts. What are inserts? They are notebooks that fit the size of your planner and as inserted into the strings. For this post I used an A5 size planner.
There are many inserts to choose from. Grid (graph) paper, lined, weekly, monthly, too many more to list. Decide what inserts you need in your planners. You can have one for home, work, hobbies, anything!
Open the insert to the middle. You will see seams or staples. Slide the flattened insert under one string. Do this for each insert, putting them in the order you would like.
Sometimes, 4 bands isn’t enough. I like to pack my planners full! You can add more inserts by using “jump bands”. These are basically rubber bands that are sized for your planner. Since you can exactly add these into the planner itself, you simply slide the band down on another insert. Just like you did to add the insert originally. TO add the extra notebook, you find the middle of that insert and slide in under the band on the back cover.
You can see here the band and the insert. Make sense?
Now, let’s make your planners pretty! Just like when we add jewelry, purses and shoes to our outfits, planners need accessories. Clips, stickers, pens, etc. You can use paper clips to mark where you are in certain inserts, stickers to decorate your weekly plans and colorful pens to help you color code.
Make it your own! Create a planner that you will use and enjoy.
Now that your string planner is all set up, go use it! Get those colorful pens out and make it work FOR you!
